Well, the timing on this one works out nicely. Bisly is on a steady growth phase, the work keeps picking up speed, and our teams are juggling more markets and responsibilities than ever. So having someone who enjoys turning all of that into a clear, human, functioning system is a relief.

Liis Normak joined as our Head of People at a moment when the company needs both structure and warmth, both clarity and room to breathe. We sat down with her to talk about her journey, how she thinks about people and culture, and how she sees Bisly growing without losing the trust and ambition that got us here.

Let’s start with your journey.

What experiences or turning points in your career shaped the way you think about people, culture, and team development?

I’ve always been fascinated by people, what shapes them, how they think and what makes them tick. Over the years, I’ve worked with diverse teams across different industries and cultures, and each experience has taught me something new. I’ve learned that great cultures are built on curiosity, trust, and the ability to connect what drives people with what drives the business.

Joining Bisly now is a very meaningful moment in our growth.

What inspired you to step into the Head of People role here — and what stood out to you about the team and mission?

Bisly is on an incredible mission, making energy-saving simple and affordable for everyone. I was drawn to the combination of a real challenge and genuine passion of the team. Joining now felt like the perfect moment to help build the culture and structure that supports both scale and purpose.

Bisly is scaling across multiple countries, roles, and cultures.

How do you approach building a strong, unified culture while also embracing local uniqueness and diversity?

For me, culture starts with a shared purpose. It’s about aligning on our “why”. Why we exist, what unites us and what impact we want to have, while embracing and giving space to the many ways people express that in their own way.

In fast-growing tech companies, culture can shift quickly.

What do you believe is most important to protect as Bisly grows — and what needs to evolve?

Trust. It’s the foundation that makes speed and collaboration possible. It’s what allows people to take ownership, make decisions, and speak up. As we grow, we’ll need to protect that trust through clarity – clear communication, aligned leadership, and systems that support transparency and consistency without becoming too heavy and rigid.

You’ve likely seen different approaches to leadership in previous organisations.

How would you describe the kind of leadership culture you want to foster here?

I would like to foster leadership that is about transparency, trust, and ambition. Leaders who communicate openly, make thoughtful decisions, and empower people to take ownership.

Bisly’s growth so far has been very organic — strong internal referrals, high trust, and shared ambition.

What systems or processes do you think help scale a great culture without making it feel “corporate” or rigid?

The best systems are the ones that make work simpler. For me, that means clear and transparent processes supported by intuitive systems that reduce friction and help people focus on what really matters.

Employee experience today is not just about benefits — it’s about purpose, autonomy, and growth.

What does meaningful employee experience look like to you at Bisly?

For me, meaningful employee experience comes from doing work that matters and having the autonomy to shape how it’s done. When people understand the impact of their work, feel supported to make decisions and see how they’re growing along the way, that’s where the magic happens.

Bisly is working to make sustainable buildings accessible and scalable globally.

How do you see People & Culture play a strategic role in that mission?

Bisly’s technology makes buildings smarter, but it’s the people behind it who make the mission scalable. By fostering a great company culture, we create the foundation for performance and growth. When people feel connected to the mission and understand their impact, that’s when meaningful growth happens.

We are so happy to have you!

Bringing Liis in right now feels like tightening the bolts before the next push forward. We already know how to grow fast. The goal now is to grow fast without dropping the things that made this team work in the first place. And if someone is genuinely excited about shaping trust, clarity, and autonomy across multiple markets at once… well, that’s exactly the kind of person we want steering People & Culture.

Welcome, Liis. The timing is spot on.
